It is a wonderful world. We can’t have wings but we can have eyes in the sky and that is why we absolutely love drones.
Drone is an informal name for an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV). A drone is an aircraft which is controlled remotely by a pilot, who is not on board. UAVs became popular during World War I, when unpiloted aircrafts were used to drop bombs on targets. Over the years, drones have been adapted for different uses in agriculture, recreation, entertainment, security and surveillance.
Agriculture
Drones give the farmers an instant view of the entire farm no matter the size. For instance, say there are places in your farm you wouldn’t like to step into because you want to stay fresh. You send your drone in. In the real sense though, farmers should be prepared to get dirty, but no matter how efficient a farmer is, the survey of a large farm would be too tedious and time consuming for him. The drone does an instant survey of the farmland and the farmer can tell where needs pruning or has bad seeds or whatever the farmer is looking out for.
Entertainment
Drones can be used to give an aerial coverage of an event.
The entertainment industry has gotten conceivably receptive of drones. The use of drones is becoming a more rampant trend in videography. The music video of Pray for me by Darey Art Alade has short scenes of aerial views of a village as well as the heart-warming scene where Darey’s father looks skyward and the drone moves upward and away from him.
Tourism and Recreation
One of the perks of having eyes in the sky, you see it all at once. An aerial view of a place makes you appreciate the place as the totality of a place can be captured in just one shot.
This advantage can also be adapted in real estate photography. They are perfect for creating video clips which gives prospective buyers a vivid presentation of the property. They can be used to give virtual tours of the property.
Surveillance
The drone is very useful for surveillance. It can be used for security reasons or to monitor traffic flow.
Or you can simply take a selfie.. ;)
The height a drone can go depends on the type of drone. The Dji Phantom 3 can go as high as 393ft and can fly for about 25 minutes on a single battery life so it is better to have more batteries for longer footages.
